Default [SOLVED] ldap / posix / Ubuntu Client

Good Morning,

I have successfully installed the Zimbra Collaboration Suite on an Ubuntu LTS Server. Users are able to use the collaboration suite as well as use roaming profiles with shared storage using group policies. On the other hand, I am having the following issue:

I'm trying to use ldap-auth-config libnss-ldap libpam-ldap packages for ldap clients to authenticate an Ubuntu 8.10 client:

1 - I have not yet been able to attach an Ubuntu Client to the domain.

2 - I am using this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LD...Authentication

3 - As I try to ssh into the local machine as zimbrauser@localhost - no dice.

Has anyone here been successful attaching a posix machine to their domain?

Thanks,
Anthony

Welcome to the forums

Does zimbrauser exist in your external LDAP ? What happens if you supply the unix password for zimbrauser ?

This question should really be targeted at the Ubuntu forums as the LDAP integration in ZCS is for the application and not O/S.

Yes the user has a posix account and exists in ldap

I can resolve the ldap server in dns

I just can't get the machine to attach to the ldap domain.

So does getent passwd not return anything ? Have you checked in the logfiles of the target LDAP server for any error messages from that server ?

Nothing in the logs... I think I'm going to try this again after I clear the logs.

Then I'm going to run tcpdump on both machines and tail -f the logs and try to catch something.

Thanks for helping out.

*** I found everything i need here: (I overlooked this.

UNIX and Windows Accounts in Zimbra LDAP and Zimbra Admin UI - Zimbra :: Wiki

(Installing pam_ldap and nss_ldap)
You need to install and configure PAM and NSS on the machine where you installed Samba. You can also install it on any Linux desktop that should use Zimbra LDAP as a user database, e.g. Linux desktops where you want to be able to log in using the same username/password that is used for Zimbra Mail.

I can now getent group and passwd and see everything, I just can get home directories mounting now. :-P

Now, I'm moving my plight to autofs - automount with Zimbra

Automount with Zimbra

I've got this one last little quandry left and Blam! Zimbra iz KooL.
