Why don't you try to be a little more rude.

I hope the Zimbra company doesn't condone this type of response.
why would they, i have nothing to do with zimbra and this is a public forum.

this forum has turned into people asking the same questions over and over endlessley, almost all of which have been answered umpteen times before, while a lot of the interesting questions get ignored.

i'll take jholders advice and just stop posting.

dijich2 please don't stop contributing and posting Personally I feel your comments were just and if people did take time to search both the Zimbra employees, moderators and the community on the whole could take the time to post specific answers instead of performing the searches for people. Then again this done seem to be the same across all forums of this nature, and is not specific to this one alone.

Its a new year and heads are sore from celebrations so lets spread peace and goodwill and move along to helping people as always.

Happy 2009

Default It's one thing...

It is one thing to encourage searching the forums. It is quite another to be rude to those looking for help.

Bill, I take your point (to a degree) but if people did search first then comments like that would not be made. Perhaps a sticky from a Zimbra employee showing some insight on how best to search including examples would be a good step forward ?

Perhaps a combination Bill too be honest ... I admit turning around and saying why not search may be abrupt but as the original poster said

Thanks for your sarcastic reply I really didnt know about the search function.
I believe is a little harsh. Is the "Search" tab on the top line of the forums not large enough ?

you feel the posts were appropriate and I don't. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Thats okay Bill ... Life would be no fun if we all agreed on things My comments made were subjective to what I read and in my opinion only. I do appreciate though things could be made easier, perhaps a top ten of problems people face ?

Employees have to use tact when replying. Moderators are asked to use tact. Members only need to be civil when posting.

People have varying degrees of what they consider tact. Let's just try to be nice.

Not to sure why I am back here after all these years but I was reading thru this post and it amuses me. My comment about not knowing about the search function was sarcasim. Yes the button is big enuff, yes th answers are buried in their somewhere but one thing people ( moderators, staff) need to be aware of is that they know exactly what they are searching for as thy know the lingo for their product. For a new bie to your product you are assuming that anyone new would know what they were searching for.

Its like a dude having a car that is making a noise, searching making a noise on a car forum. However asking a? may reveal that the noise is a problem with tappets, breaks, bearings etc as experienced people are providing assistance. What does a person look for? I did before asking the ? look on the forum and used the "search"f acility. after that productive comment about using search I thought to myself for f@#$sake I have already looked, and even after that I looked again and couldnt find the answer I was looking for hence why I posted what I found.

The purpose for forums is to get help is all you guys want to do is answers questions that there are no current answers for then you may aswell do email support and leave it as that. It is demeaning to call anyone in a forum lazy, stupid or anything else you know the product cause you designed it, dont assume that the people asking the ? are seasoned experts. Hey what would the point of a forum be then?

I did move to scalix and have had no notable issues with it that wasnt fixed by m askng on their forum.

Back in my little hole.
