Default Move Zimbra to new server

Hi

We are running today a zimbra open source edition 4.5.2 on Fedora core 5 and we have bought a new server and installed Ubuntu 8.10 server x86_64

What is the best way to move over all settings and mail from the old server to the new server?

regards.

Welcome to the forums

Unfortunately as it is such a old release you are on, and combined with moving from a X86 architecture to X86_64 it is going to be quite difficult. If you can it would be better to upgrade your current installation to the latest release possible, though due to being on Fedora 5 that will be quite difficult aswell.

The process, which we have done a number of times, comprises:
  1. Upgrade the existing 32-bit server to 4.5.11.
  2. Install 64-bit version 4.5.11 on the new server.
  3. Follow the wiki article (link not handy) to restore accounts to the new server.
  4. Note: 32-bit to 64-bit server-to-server migrations require exporting LDAP on the 32-bit server and manually importing it on the new server, as per the wiki.
  5. Upgrade the new server to your chosen ZCS version 5.0.x.
  6. Note: 4.5-to-5.0 migrations are supported only from version 4.5.11 to my knowledge.

Hope that helps,
Mark

I did smth similar last week and what i did was to install the new server, create the accounts and then use imapsync to sync both servers.

I lost contacts but that was not that critical for us.
