Installing Zimbra on CENTOS

Hi all,
I just downloaded Zimbra and would like to install it on one of our trial servers. I have 3 questions though:

1. Has anyone tried installing it on CENTOS 4 (this is suppose to be a derivative of RedHat)?

2. For test purposes, do we still require at least 1 Gig memory or can we get away with less?

3. Has anyone successfully been able to have their Zimbra server work using a dynamic IP address and a service like DynDNS? Any known issues?

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.

Yes, Zimbra works fine with CentOS - several of us use CentOS, have a look around the forums. CentOS is the same as RHEL, it isn't a derivitave, is uses the same source and is binary compatible with RHEL.

Depending on the number of users then you could get away with slightly less memory.

Do dyndns host MX records? If they do then you should be able to use it on a dynamic IP. My advice would be to get a fixed IP and 'proper' DNS records set-up.

I'm using Zimbra on CentOS. It works fine.

Running a Dell Power Edge 2650 with 2.4 kernel and 3GB of RAM.
