Default /opt is a symbolic link ?

Dear All,

In current 5.0.11 installation, we found we can proceed the installation if /opt is a symbolic link, while this was not true in 5.0.9 (if I remember correctly.??).

just curious does anyone have any idea why /opt can NOT be symbolic link in current version?

(check utilfunc.sh : checkExistingInstall() from zcs-5.0.11_xxxxx/util/ directory)

Thanks.

I am using 5.0.10 Network Edition on Red Hat and I have the same problem. I can't upgrade because it says /opt is a symbolic link. I have been using zimbra since 4.5 and I never had this problem. In fact it used to be advised to do a sym link to a larger partition, I think the forums gave the example of /opt to /var/opt. I guess I'm waiting for the next version and I am hoping it will be fixed.

Well, you can see from that bug report that it's been around since 4.5.1 and was reported in February 2007. There is, however, some good news for you on the Product Portal.
