Default Zimbra with a private IP address?

Hello,

I have already installed zimbra in a new server, but it is in a LAN with a private IP address, there is one gateway that has one public address and is doing NAT, but i have a problem, with port 25 i have no problems connecting from outside, but with pop3 when i try to connect from outside it gives me this error:

-ERR POP3 Access denied

If i connect from the LAN, i have no problems at all, in fact, the problem isn't only with pop3 from outside, but with 80 too (with this one, it simply doesn't connect)

I guess the problem isn't related with zimbra since i can connect it from the LAN, maybe the problem could be in the NAT??

Thanks in advance guys!

It's a router issue.
Check the settings on your router and tell it to forward all port 80 and 110 traffic to the internal IP address of your zimbra server.

Are you sure?

The person responsable of router's configuration is claiming that the NAT is OK, and that the problem is Zimbra altought i don't think so, but either i am sure, so..

The error that it gives me, who produces it? Zimbra? if so, is because the packet is arriving to zimbra or not?

Well I'm not certain, but it's a solid guess at the moment.

Let's step through what's happening to work out the problem.

You are outside of your building and you try to connect with, let's say MS Outlook, to your zimbra server using pop3 protocol on port 110.

So, what's in the account configuration in outlook for the pop3 server address? Is it the internal IP, the external IP, a domain name? This is the first branching point where the answer to the problem can change.

It's the external IP address.

That error appears even if i do: telnet 110 (for example)

Are you doing this from the LAN or from an external IP?

Then the liklihood, as Dirk has mentioned, is that it's a router problem. You might also want to ensure that SElinux and your firewall are both disabled. Could you update your forum profile with the output of the folllowing:

Code:
zmcontrol -v
and which operating system are you using?

Right now i don't have access to the machine, (since i'm not at the building right now) but it is a Debian Etch Linux with the last Open Source ZCS.

Does that help?

It always helps to know which version of ZImbra and operating system you're using, please update your forum profile with the output of the command I gave you above.
