I'll check.

but isn't it possible that ldap runs in localhost - isn't it unsecure if it runs in external ip and all who wants could hack it?

I had that exact problem one time with a yum update.

Were you doing anything? How did you notice that LDAP wasy stopped?

New installation? Repair Installation?

If this is a new install or repair, I'd be interested in seeing the install log.

It was new installation.

another error too: I get it during install

COMMAND: zmlocalconfig -f -e zimbra_user='zimbra'
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Can't detect initial thread stack location - find_vma failed
COMMAND: zmlocalconfig -f -e zimlet_directory='${tomcat_directory}/webapps/service/zimlet'
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Can't detect initial thread stack location - find_vma failed

and install log ends with these lines.

and zmsetup.log

; export zimbra_spam_report_queue_size='100'; export zimbra_store_directory='
/opt/zimbra/store'; export zimbra_store_sweeper_max_age='480'; export zimbra_tmp_directory='/tmp/zimbra'; export zimbra_uid='1000'; export zi

Nothing will work until LDAP is fixed during the install.

Default Ldap installation error

I have just started a zimbra installation on a Fedora core 5 using zcs-4.5.0_GA_612.FC4.tgz
and got the following error.

Initializing ldap.../opt/zimbra/openldap/sbin/slappasswd: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Configuration failed

Please address the error and re-run /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetup.pl to
complete the configuration.

Errors have been logged to /tmp/zmsetup.log.3305

I have gone through the forum and try the following commands.
when i tried to run /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmldapinit (as the zimbra user).
got this error:
/opt/zimbra/openldap/sbin/slappasswd: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/opt/zimbra/openldap/sbin/slappasswd: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

ERROR - failed to start slapd
Yet Ldap refuses to start.
When i tried to start it manually using sh -x bin/ldap start i got this error: sh: bin/ldap: Permission denied
My ldap host is resolvable by DNS but i cannot telnet to ldap host at port 389 and firewall and SElinux is disabled
Any other idea on what to do.

It would help if you'd started a new thread instead of tagging it to a year old thread. Anyway, try installing the correct version of Zimbra on the operating system, if you still get the message about a missing library the search the forums - it's been covered before.
