Smile Some questions before installing Zimbra

Hello all,

Thanks for this forum and the Wiki.

Actually, I'm using hMailServer and Horde Webmail. I want to replace Horde webmail with Zimbra, and perhaps hMailServer with Zimbra later.

My questions are :
  • Which distribution of Linux is the best for Zimbra (debian, fedora, centos, ...) ?
  • Is all Zimbra's functionality (sharing, AJAX mail and address book, AJAX documents, ...) running fine if I didn't install the Zimbra server ?
  • If Zimbra Server is required, how can I use Zimbra server and another mail server (for mail only) ?

Thanks a lot for your explanation.

Regards,

1: Distribution. Up to you, it's recommended to use a platform that a build is available for, my personal recommendation is Ubuntu server.

2: Partial Install: No, wont work. ZCS is a combination of parts, it's all or nothing.

3: Interop: The question may be why would you rather than how could you? It's possible though, please outline exactly what you would like to do.

It will also help if you mention the intended scenario for the install, is this for you personally or a group of friends, or a company etc?
