Default [SOLVED] Logwatch and zimbra

Hi all,

I have an Ubuntu 8.04 system hosting the latest version of zimbra. I would like to install logwatch on this box.

The problem is that postfix is a dependency of logwatch, and I'm pretty sure that installing Ubuntu's version of postfix will make me an unhappy camper.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Paul

Well you could install logwatch and then just disable the Ubuntu Postfix service ?

That seems to do the trick. I just wanted to make sure there were no unintended interactions with zimbra. Thanks!

I now have logwatch installed and the Ubuntu postfix disabled. Unfortunately, I get no logwatch emails :-( It seems they go into the postfix queue, but never leave (since postfix is disabled)

One of the interesting things when I installed the Postfix package was that its configuration was not complete. It complained that myhostname (IIRC) and relayhost cannot be the same thing.

I guess the key here is getting programs like "mail" to know to use zimbra and not postfix. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

everywhere I look for an answer to this exact question, the answers are vague or non-existant. Is there no step by step on getting logwatch installed and working properly? The mta-dummy option in the ubuntu 8.04 install guide doesn't seem to work properly.
