Default installing patch

I want to install the patch for zimbra 5.0.10.
Bellow are the instructions :
1.
Copy the patch.tgz file to your server
2.
Log in as root and cd to the directory where the tar file is saved
3.
Type tar xzvf patch.tgz
4.
Type cd patch/zimbra
5.
Type find . ‐exec chown zimbra:zimbra {} \;
6.
As zimbra (su – zimbra), type zmcontrol stop
7.
Replace /opt/zimbra/jetty/webapps/zimbraAdmin/js/Admin_all.js.zgz with the extracted copy of zimbraAdmin/Admin_all.js.zgz
8.
Replace /opt/zimbra/jetty/webapps/zimbra/js/zimbraMail/mail/view/ZmMailMsgView.js with the extracted copy of zimbra/zmMailMsgView.js
9.
Replace /opt/zimbra/jetty/webapps/zimbra/* with the extracted files in patch/zimbra/*
10.
Type zmcontrol start

Number 9 ? Is that correct? There are no files to replace !!!

Greets,

John

What patch is that ? something Zimbra support has supplied to you ? If so may be better directing the question to them if you have a support ticket open.

No,

When you go to Zimbra Support Portal then there is a message that there is a patch available for all 5.0.10 users

Greets,
John

I believe there is a problem with the patch instructions too. I have to say I haven't actually done the patch because the hairs on the back of my neck went up when things didn't quite match what I expected. Specifically (referring to above):

Point 5 - should ownership also be set to zimbra:zimbra on the contents of the patch folder zimbraAdmin?
Point 9 - should these remaining files be placed in /opt/zimbra/jetty/webapps/zimbra/js/, and not just opt/zimbra/jetty/webapps/zimbra/ which does not contain these files? If this is the case, then I would also suggest that the patch contain a directory structure comparable to the expected destination, rather than having files destined for multiple destinations in a flat structure.

As I don't have a test server here I will await further developments before applying this patch.

-All of the files in the tar should be zimbra.zimbra (chown -R zimbra.zimbra patch/*)
-Yes it's /js
-The tar contains better directory structure now & steps pdf has been updated.

Wow that was quick - thanks. I've downloaded and applied and all seems well. Was very interested in getting the Javascript error with IE solved and this patch does the trick.

I have found that IE 7 on a few client systems exhibited the same Javascript error on first login. So I assume that perhaps the bad .js is cached - on clearing temporary internet files on those clients and restarting the IE browser, the patched version is loaded and all works fine - no more Javascript error. And bug 31064 is now a distant memory...
