Default problem with mta and port 25

hi!i'm installing zimbra in fedora core4 and it gives me problem in the port 25,it has a conflict with mta,i think the problem is sendmail is running but i did the order chkconfig sendmail off,but i think it isn't enough,the problem is i don't know how to stop this service.can anybody help me please?thankyou very much.

Using chkconfig only turns it off from start up you need to stop the current running service.

/etc/init.d/sendmail stop
