Default problem zimbra upgrade

Hello,
i just upgraded (5.8->5.0.10) our zimbra server without any problems (configuration complete.. press -a- to apply
but it looks like there is a problem with the mailbox

zimbra@mail:~$ zmcontrol status
Host mail.mailserver.com
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Stopped
zmmailboxdctl is not running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Running

i checked all log files in /opt/zimbra/logs/ but i dont see any problems (from my POV) except:

zmmailboxd.out:

Have you tried 'zmcontrol stop'; 'zmcontrol start' and/or rebooted the server? First thing I would do before trying a reinstall or anything like that.

yes, restarted services, re-upgraded the server, restarted my debian box
deleted all pidfiles after zmcontrol stop and the mailbox started without problems..hmm even the login in zimbra admin webpanel is working again but after the log-in i get this error message:

Mail: mountpoint loop detected Fehlercode: service.TOO_MANY_HOPS Method: GetAccountRequest Details:soap:Sender

I see 3 server with different settings now and failed to delete one of those..

the same error message appears when clicking/browsing my Account Emails.

TOO_MANY_HOPS kind of sounds like a DNS issue to me. Did you change anything else on the server pre/post-install, like IP address, host name, DNS servers, etc.?

yes i changed my hostname.. configured it with
ZmSetServerName - Zimbra :: Wiki
/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetservername NEW_HOSTNAME

i guess i have to delete the other 2 servers?

is there no easy way to backup my user/mailboxes and just reinstall the server from scratch?

anyway thank you for your reply

When did you make this change? Before or after the upgrade? Have you tried just setting it back to the previous hostname to see if you can at least get things working again?

I'm a little confused here. How many servers did you upgrade? Did you try adding new servers to the environment after the upgrade?

Do you have a backup from prior to the upgrade?

- after the upgrade.. yes i set back the hostname but can't connect the zimbraAdmin anymore..
- i have only one server configured with 5 domains / 50 users
(i was confused too .. maybe they have been created by re-upgrading)
- unfortunately, no backups

So, was the system working after the upgrade, but then broke after you made the hostname change? Also, after the upgrade you are seeing two extra servers in the Admin console?

ok just did a fresh install of 5.0.10. everything is working fine now.
so again is there any solution importing mails/users from my old zimbra folder (mysql).. ?

btw if i backup /opt/zimbra and an upgrade fail i just move my backup zimbra folder in /opt/zimbra and thats it ?
