Default Split_DNS down: can users continue to "send" mails ?

Hello,

we are soon going to install a Zimbra test environment (spit-dns, DynDNS).

Scenario:
Internet connection (between our firewall and the ISP provider) goes down..

Questions:
1.
Can the Zimbra users continue to send mails internally?

2.
Are mails be sent to external mail receipients automatically queued up in Zimbra and sent out
without user intervention as soon the line comes up again?

Thank's a lot for any feedback!

John

Yes, as you are running a Split-DNS architecture your domain will still be resolvable.

Yes it should hold them in the queue and re-attempt delivery when the line comes back. If the line is down for a long period of time then I believe your users will then get a non delivery message due to the remote server being unavailable.
