Default Install fails becuase MX record not found...

I am using a service provider for custom DNS support, therefore my domain name, A, CNAME, and MX records are defined on their site. I do not have a DNS Server locally. The installation requests a different mail server domain name becuase it does not find the MX record for the current Domain. I have listed the service providers DNS Server in my search path. What do I need to do to resolve this problem.?
