Default Upgrade instructions in 5.0.10 too muddy to understand

I was trying to do an upgrade based on http://files.zimbra.com/website/docs...se%20Notes.pdf, but the instructions are really because I have no idea what step 2 is for. My guess was that the perl script is only available in 4.5.11, so I have to download a 376M tarball just to get a 1K script. However, the script was nowhere to be found in 4.5.11, neither was it found in 5.0.10. Anyone knows the working instructions for the upgrade?

Thanks,

--John

[install]$ find zcs -name migratePreWidenSizeColumns.pl -ls
[install]$ find zcs-NETWORK-5.0.10_GA_2638.RHEL4_64.20081003025447 -name migratePreWidenSizeColumns.pl -ls
[install]$

Upgrading from 4.5.7 through 4.5.10 (this is what we hav now) to 5.0.x

Important: Only ZCS systems at 4.5.7 or later can upgrade directly to 5.0.x. If you are running a version earlier than 4.5.7, you must first upgrade from 4.5.x to 4.5.11 before you upgrade to 5.0.x.

If you are upgrading from 4.5.7 through 4.5.10 to 5.0.x the process to prepare and then upgrade would be as follows. Doing step 4 before you upgrade will shorten the actual time it takes to upgrade.

1. If you have LDAP Replication Servers, you must modify each LDAP replica server before you upgrade the LDAP master server. See the instructions at “LDAP Replication Servers” on page 27. If you do not have LDAP replica servers, continue with step 2.

2. Download ZCS 4.5.11.

3. Download 5.0.x.

4. Run the migratePreWidenSizeColumns.pl to shorten the time it takes to upgrade. (optional)

5. Upgrade to 5.0.x. Note: If you do not run migratePreWidenSizeColumns.pl, the script is automatically run during the upgrade to 5.0.x.

Hi, sorry; I've been glancing through the release/install notes and your post but I'm not sure what the issue is. Can you clarify some points please?

What version of zimbra are you currently using
What version are you trying to go to
Is this Network Edition of FOSS ?
Is it a single server install or a cluster?

thanks.

BUMP - NE customer here...

Looking at a 4.5.10 to 5.0.10 upgrade. Script is nowhere to be found. I guess we could extract it from the RPM, with the same instructions as the prep for LDAP replicas, however there's no indication as to how long this would take...

In our case I have about 10000 accounts on one box and 1500 on another box.

I'm also looking for this script. We're on RH EL4, 4.5.11 Network Edition and we're going to 5.0.11, I'd like to run the migratePreWidenSizeColumns.pl script before the upgrade, but I can't find it at all... Can anyone enlighten us?

Thanks in advance.

John
