Configuring an httpd redirect

OMG. I have spent hours adding redirects to every possible http.conf file I can find and rebooting the server but none of them are working. Where do you actually have the ability to add commands for the web server that works? I have to get a redirect to our old /webmail which is no longer working since we are now on the zimbra and I want to point them with a permanent redirect back to the main zimbra login. HELP!
