Ok, fair enough. I just meant that every 6 months a version goes out of support. If it's one machine, then whatever.. But running all of your systems on openSUSE you're bound to have several versions in production. This could mean constant server OS upgrades. Just curious if you had any reason to use that rather than something that has patches released for it for a longer period of time.

Also - just in case - I didn't mean to start a distro holy war, just wanting someone to sell me (and Zimbra, which it sounds like is the goal) on openSUSE

I used openSUSE back in the 9.x and 10.x days and had problems with Yast and left.

Yast is what sold me on SuSE. I manage everything except my iptable through Yast. I use Webmin for that. Never had any problems with Yast.

Out of 10 Linux servers, 7 run 10.3 and the rest 10.2. I was hoping Zimbra would at least support 10.3 with the next release. It floors me they are ditching Open SuSE all together.

I wonder what other Open SuSE user think about no continuing support.

I doubt SuSE updates any more frequently than Core.

It would be nice to get an answer from Zimbra as to why they are dropping Open SuSE support.

Yes so did I lots of problems with openSUSE 9 and 10.1. I had left myself
Then openSUSE 10.2 came out. I tried it found a lot broken links, but more stable about the same I found with Ubuntu, FC Mandrake now Mandriva. When 10.3 came out I was hooked YAST was fixed. now 11.0 is out is about 40% faster and alot of improvements running Workstations...... and I can go on. Check out what I am talkin about and download the Live CD

Even though Open SuSE 10.2, 10.3, or 11 is not listed in the Platform Support section, support for 10.3 is listed in the Targeted Requirements section. Supporting 10.3 would be just fine for me as I haven't been too impressed with 11.

Angry Opensuse Not supported any more??

I've used Zimbra for a few years, and I was very happy with it.

If Zimbra stops supporting the best Distro, I have to stop using Zimbra....

That's good.

That's rather a strange comment based on your first statement but it's your choice.

Default It certainly is one's choice.

And there are plenty of choices out there.
