Default Multi Proc Server Install

The minimum requirements for Zimbra are a 1ghz CPU.

What about installing in a multi-processor environment? I've been watching ebay and I can find a mutli-proc server rather cheap. One I'm looking at now is a 4x500mhz system. I'm rather new to linux and Zimbra, so how would linux / zimbra react on a server such as this? Would it meet the minimum requirements? And what would I need to know about installing in a multi-processor configuration?

Thanks,
Andy

It should work assuming the chips are P3 or better. 500X4 might be less than a modern 1GHz box. Since newer machines have faster bus and RAM speed.

Default 1ghz - hard limit?

I realize that the stated minimum is 1ghz... which isn't much, but is it a hard limit? Will the system NOT run if it is less than 1ghz? I'd like to test and play with Zimbra. Could I theoretically install it on a system with less than 1ghz to test?

Of course.. I've heard reports of it running on very low end machines. Like P2 450MHz and 256MB RAM. It's not easy as you'll need to only run the minimal components and if you use it too much can overtax the machine resources but it can work. If you really just want to play you can grab a LiveCD or VMWare and get it running pretty quick if your just looking to explore.

I am using Zimbra with a quite minimalistic hardware (PIII 600 Mhz with 386 MB RAM and 18 GB RAID 5 (3 Disks with 9 GB)). There are about 5 Users and it is working fine after following Marc's instructions in this thread.
