So when you tried to add the additional two domains what error messages were you getting ? I presume the MX records for those domains point to your server ?

ok, new installation for the 15 time... not kidding.
told it I wanted the domain nkomail.se... great it didnt complain.

went thru all the other settings and staretd the server...

servername= hd5b91e53.k21735.sta.perspektivbredband.net
domain = hd5b91e53.k21735.sta.perspektivbredband.net

This is not really what I want.

I dont get it. Why is it so hard to set this up?
I mean, I follow the instructions and it doesnt work.
Im not sure where the error is... in the application or in the instructions.

added the long hostname provided by our ISP in the hostsfile...
(just to be sure)
result= cant log in. login failed adminGUI...

it would be really interesting to follow an installation from someone who has done it. From scratch.

It cant be done without special knowledge of things not in the manual

I give up. There shouldnt be this much hazzle.

Its not smart to have an emailserver wich can lock you out anytime it wants to.

I have spoken to a Zimbra employee and explained the situation ... hopefully they can help you understand the setup and its pre-requisites

It looks like you're using an IP as the servername and you're getting confused in tracking things down.

Plus you're changing hostnames after install - which is not something you should do without ZmSetServerName - Zimbra :: Wiki

I'm showing you as:
Server Name 213.185.30.83.nkomail.se
IP 213.185.30.83
MX Priority 1
RDNS Entry hd5b91e53.k21735.sta.perspektivbredband.net.

Quote:
"I set the hostname/computername manually before the install to "nkomail.se"
So you set your hostname = your domainname, let's outline this simpler:

Create an A record for mail.nkomail.se > 213.185.30.83
Create a MX record for nkomail.se > mail.nkomail.se
(Thus email addresses would be user@nkomail.se)

/etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
x.x.x.x mail.nkomail.se mail

Make sure your MX records are right here: Quick Check - Pingability.com

So from your box a "dig mx nkomail.se" should return 'mail.nkomail.se'

During install if you get prompted that you don't have an MX record for 'mail.nokomail.se.com' you can switch the domain to 'nokomail.se' (you can certainly create a MX for mail.nkomail.se if you want to have say root@mail.nkomail.se as a usable address) OR just ignore and continue on as you can add more domains & correct MX later.

Option 2) zimbra-ldap

Ldap configuration

1) Status: Enabled
2) Create Domain: yes
3) Domain to create: kaos.corp.yahoo.com

You could debate the merits of FQDN vs domain.tld forever, we chose to use FQDN, verify the MX and let you change it to fit your needs.

ok, now I get some hope again.
But for the MX and A records they should be set up like that.
We dont have much room for making errors when we set it up in the controlpanel at surftown.se. (domainholder)

Martinx, you have to explain what exactly you have done otherwise we cannot help. Whether it be a service you provide yourself or a third party wihout the information we cannot help. Dig information on all domains etc will provide what we need. Honestly if you are looking at a Network Edition installation then contact Zimbra support, give them this thread URL and I am sure they could connect to your server and help. Good luck
