Default Tweak WinXP Reg to Auto-launch Zimbra?

Hello from Washington DC. I am using Zimbra Collaboration as my mail handler. But currently, clicking an address link on a website in Firefox attempts a startup of the Windows office suite. The MS office program is on my drive but never activated by me, so it asks me every time if I want to install it. Answer: No, every time.

Using RegEdit, I found where I have to make changes in my registry to make Zimbra my default email client. Now I just need to get the syntax straight and for that I need some help.

My choice is to be written to HiKey Local Machine\Software\Classes\mailto\shell\open\command . So what is the variable I write in to make Zimbra pop open a New Message window?

Thanks very much, all.

I suspect you want to use

start http://your.zimbra.server

Cause the start command should use your standard Windows association to launch URLs.

That doesn't work from a Win-R Run Command prompt, but it does work (for me) from a cmd *window*... and as an extra added bonus, it opened a new tab in the Firefox I had already running (this is on win2k, ff2).

Try it and see if it works for you.

Hi, I'm new to Zimbra, but I thought you might want to try the setting in Zimbra that sets it to be your default mail application rather than making changes directly to the registry...

Preferences>Global>
System Defaults: Use Zimbra Desktop as default mail application

Hope this helps...

Cheers,
Shawn
