Default Outgoing mails not going via Configured relay MTA

I have set the "Relay MTA for external delivery" in the admin GUI to the SMTP server of my ISP. Zimbra accepted this setting with no problems at all.

But when ever I send out an email, and I check the headers of the message at the "other end", it is not going via the ISP's smarthost. It always goes via the domain of the sending address : eg send from me@example.com and it always goes via mail.example.com even when Relay MTA is set to smtp.isp.com.

I have tried it both with and without the tick in "Enable DNS Lookups" but it does the same thing.

I have searched the forums and while ther are a few threads about problems with outgoing mail and relat servers, I can't find any that mention mail going via the wrong server.

Thanks fopr any help.

Thanks for the welcome.

You were too quick with the resopnse - I was just updateing my profile with the info !

The zmcontrol -v command returns :

Release 5.0.9_GA_2533.RHEL5_20080815132719 CentOS5 FOSS edition

Thanks.

Yep. Tried restarting just ZCS and when that that didn't make any difference I have tried rebooting the CentOS5 server.

The mails go out fine, just not via the correct relay.

I'm having the same issue...

Release 5.0.18_GA_3011.RHEL5_64_20090707171702 CentOS5_64 FOSS edition

Any ideas on this?

You may need to disable DNS lookups or specify the relay host with [] around the name.

Ah, I'll give that a try... However, I just found out that our ISP doesn't do relays for us on this circuit. Weird. :P
