Default GAL does not show any names.

Hello
With the help of PHOENIX, I have established our Zimbra server. Our Beta test users love it. Functionality is great and it is easy to setup. Great reviews so far.

Having an issue with the GAL. I have looked in the Admin console and the GAL shows "INTERNAL". I would assume that if you are a Zimbra user and if you use the WEBMAIL that you would see the other mail users in the ADDRESS BOOK. It is blank.

Do I need to setup the External? I found the Configure the Global Address List Help page in the Admin console.

But not sure if setting up EXTERNAL would resolve our problem.

Thanks

internal just means that it uses the accounts within zimbra for the gal. external means if you want your gal to read from another source like a ldap tree.

if you're not seeing anything in the gal, check

1. the cos has gal access enabled
2. the users you have do not have 'hide in gal' set.

Hello BDial

Appreciate your response.

I have checked in our Admin console and looked in the COS. the ADDRESS BOOK is checked in the FEATURES tab.

I pulled up users in the domain and verified that all the users do not have HIDE IN GAL checked.

are these the correct settings?

in the cos it's under Features tab under general features

"Global Access List Access"

when you compose a new message and you click the To: to bring up the address book do you have the option for global address list and just nothing shows up even when you search?
