Default Installation possible?

Hello everyone!

I have no server of my own. My website runs on a shared server with a hostingprovider. But I like Zimbra very much and would like to use it. But....
I have 2 questions.

1) Is it possible to run Zimbra on a shared server?
2) I now use Thunderbird and have multiple e-mail accounts. I know I can make multiple accounts in Zimbra, but can I transfer my e-mails from Thunderbird to Zimbra?

I have downloaded Zimbra Desktop but that seems best when you start from scratch and have no e-mail history.

No need te say I am new at this!

Greetings,
Kaatje

Welcome to the forums.

It depends what you're hosted server has installed, if you're running any type of management 'panel' then you might have problems. It's certainly possible to run Zimbra with an installed Apache but you'd have to set it's http port to something other than 80 and/or use https to access your mail. Why don't you describe what your current set-up is?

Indeed, there is a management panel. I've been looking but there is no possibility to set any http ports.
I'll contact my hostingprovider for some information and get come back afterwards.

Thanks for now.
