So if I get a certificate for the actual server name (webmail.business.net). Will this certificate work if the web address used to get to the server is webmail.business.com ? .net .com and .org all point to the same box.

I think you're better off getting a multiple domain certificate in this case, because otherwise every browser accessing the server as .com will flash an error that the cert., while appearing valid, is for a different domain than you're accessing. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know how I would generate the CSR in zimbra for multiple domains?

when requesting csr certificate on gui admin, you can click on a check box named Wildcard; if clicked, the name in box above from
zimbra.domain.tld
became
*.domain.tld

so your csr is a wildcard request for a wildcard cert; wildcard certs have a higher price than the not-wildcard

Yeah, I am not looking to generate a csr for multiple sub domains. Thanks though.

Default Unified Communications Certificates (UCC)

googling, at last i found them, there are named:
Code:
Unified Communications Certificates (UCC)
but no zimbra tech told us as you can install them, see this post

they borned for exchange, hopefully they can be used with zimbra; i have your same issue with a customer of mine, they stated with domain.it and decided to chenge all to domain.com
now they are neither meat neither fish

any advise by zimbra's tech people on UCC will be very apreciated
