When you change the hostname in Ubuntu you usually have to change it in /etc/hostname and do "hostname " on the command line as well. Also, log out and log back in.. It should change it in the prompt. You'll also have to make sure the /etc/hosts file is correct then as well.

The hostname inconsistencies is what I've been trying to get at... it was being listed as zimbra.pdadmin.com. Also, in the last zone file you posted there's no A record for mail2, only for mail. There's an MX record that points the domain to mail2 but no A record saying what mail2 is.

Don't worry, that is now root@mail2. It changed once I changed the hostname and /etc/hosts and stuff. The installation went through. I'm going to create a couple test accounts and see if we can email back and forth.

EDIT: So, I've installed Zimbra and I still can't send mail back and forth. I created two test accounts. How can I troubleshoot exactly where the problem is through the command line? Can I check files that would give me information to say something along the lines of "email sent to xxx.xxx....", or are my configurations still the issue?

So you've sent emails from a user on your zimbra system to a user on your zimbra system and they weren't delivered?

Yes, exactly. I really think that it's not resolving the MX record because there is something misconfigured. Hopefully, today when my supervisor comes in, we can take a look at it. I created two email accounts, and it didn't work. I made the accounts username@pdadmin.com, and when I send the email, nothing happens. No email is received on the other end.
