setting nicelevel of Amavis

Our Zimbra server keeps getting very busy at times. I've investigated and found this is because Amavis processes are taking up most of the CPU time, just when the users also want their slice of the cake as well.

Is there some way of setting the nice level on the Amavis processes, so they don't hold back the important processes. Incoming email processing doesn't need to be real time, compared to user client access.

Any ideas?

Have you tried Amavis as a ramdisk?
If you search amavis and ramdisk in wiki, you should find the reference.

I found an interesting article on performance tuning, that was interesting. But nothing about how to set-up and configure the ram disk.
