Default [SOLVED] /var/log/zimbra.log - NOT LOGGING ANYMORE

Hi All,

I made a bit of a mistake, I emptied out the /var/log/zimbra.log file, as I was working on resolving some issues, however Zimbra is now no longer logging to this file.

command i ran: > /var/log/zimbra.log

I have stopped and started Zimbra using the zmcontrol command...

How bad of a mistake was this? How Can I reset the logging?

How does this affect Message Tracking/Tracing?

This is the OSS version of Zimbra...

Thanks in Advance....

When you do an HTOP/TOP on the server does it show that the logging process is running?

Try restarting your syslog daemon. Log files under /var/log are normally controlled by that service.
