Default ZCS 5.0.7 + ubuntu (community pkg)

Everything seems nice now that i have https in place as well.
Only one thing that disturbs me, serverstatus under admin gives me this:

Server status data is not available. To see the server status, logger service must be installed.

zimbra@mail:~$ zmcontrol status
Host mail.xxx
antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Running

Seems that logger is running, so why wont server status work?

hiya, this is usually due to cron not running the regular status scripts. can you see service status entries in /var/log/zimbra every couple of minutes?

root@mail# tail -f /var/log/zimbra.log
Jul 9 07:22:34 mail zmmailboxdmgr[22965]: status requested
Jul 9 07:22:34 mail zmmailboxdmgr[22965]: status OK

This keeps running once a minute approx. Though i cant see any cron messages. Which cron jobs should be running?
I installed my ubuntu with debootstrap so cron wasnt installed when i installed zimbra, maybe this could affect this?

yes, this will be your problem them. one of the postinstall actions is to write the cron entries and then call cron to update it - if cron doesn't exist it won't work. unfortunately this is all hidden in zmsetup.pl, the main setup script so not easy to update after the fact. you could try and run zmsetup.pl again if its a new install, that will fix it.

if you do:
su - zimbra
crontab -l

do you see lots of entries?

This did the trick!
Now there are lots of crontabs under the zimbra user.
Doesnt seem that the zmsetup.pl script changed any of my settings either.

Thanks again

cool, I guess cron should be added as a pre-flight check.
