Default Problem sending and Receiving mail

Hi there

I'm having problems sending and receiving mail
mydomain: mail.myguidetravel.com
Public IP: 83.245.69.36
Private IP - Zimbra Server: 10.0.0.8
Portforwarding on my firewall:
ports 25(smtp),389(ldap),7025(lmtp),80(web) and 143(IMAP)
All forwarding from 83.245.69.36 to 10.0.0.8

my hosts file looks as follows
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
10.0.0.8 mail.myguidetravel.com mail

And I have mx and a records setup

In the MTA
If I have "Enable DNS Lookup" set to off

Mail does not go out, but I can receive mail fine.
I get the following error in the Logs in relation to sending mail
Mar 3 12:59:23 mail postfix/smtp[16591]: 44F698407C: to=, relay=none, delay=90, status=deferred (connect to gmail.com[64.233.171.83]: Connection timed out)

If I have "Enable DNS Lookup" set to on
Mail goes out fine, but I can not receive mail.
I get the following error in the Logs in relation to receiving mail
Mar 3 13:11:43 mail postfix/lmtp[20898]: 5DF2F84074: to=, relay=none, delay=191, status=deferred (connect to mail.myguidetravel.com[83.245.69.36]: Connection timed out)

I'm stumped

Any idea why this might be happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ger

Default

Your server (which is on 10.0.0.8) can't get to itself on the LMTP port (7025) via the public IP (83.245.69.36). Fix your firewall.

OR

Turn DNS back off and set up a relay host.

Default Confirming problem

Apologies for not replying sooner, was away.
Anyway yes it seems to be some problem on our Firewall, I have that test server on our DMZ and i have portforwarding setup for various ports.
From a host on my private network if I (telnet my_public_ipaddress 7025) I can connect no problem, but if I (telnet my_public_ipaddress 7025) from a Host or Zimbra server on my DMZ - connection times out.

I am waiting for Firewall support to come back to me with a reason as to why this is not working.

I take your suggestion of setting up a relay host (with ISP) but don't really want to go down this road, as i'm sure we won't have any logs ( I think logging information will be recorded on our ISP SMTP server then.

Thank you for replying to my post.
I will post back here again when our firewall guys get back to me(Hopefully today).

Cheers

Ger.

Default For anyone using Smoothwall Firewall

Hi there

The firewall we use is Smoothwall www.smoothwall.net
We are using Smoothwall Corportate server 3.0
After contacting there Technical support, I was told there is no way around this on Smoothwall Corporate server 3.0, as it is part of an antispoofing mechanism.
However they have told me, there is an easy work around on the Smoothwall Advance Firewall vesion 4.
So I will be moving to that this week.
For the moment to get mail sending and receiving
I turned off "Enable DNS lookup" in the MTA and also on the same page
I set "Relay MTA for external delivery" to our ISP's SMTP server as suggested by marcmac
Sending and Receiving mail is working now.

Cheers
