Default Dial up direct connect to zimbra

WE have a few employee's which do not have internet access. We had a Dial up service to access email only to our network. we are authenticating with a script with PPP. After connection and authenticated to network, we still can not pull email (using email client to attempt to pull email). Error states server did not respond. I know it has nothing to do with firewall as authentication in completed on the same network as the zimbra server. Any ideas on setup?

Are you dialing directly into the Zimbra server? If not, what then? My first thoughts would be to perhaps a routing issue. But I don't have near enough info to do other than a guess.

We are using a script to auto-connect through a DIGI port server. This connection is authenticated to another linux box using PPP. Once connected I thought we could just use POP3 and SMTP as normal as both servers are on the same subnet. I have used IP addresses in email client server configuration.

Once the user has dialled up would it be possible to get them to perform a tracert to the ZCS server ? Also, ask them to try telneting to port 110 on your ZCS server. Can they even ping the ZCS server when dialled up ? As Bill has said it does sound more like a routing issue.

I will troubleshoot the commuinication from authentication to email access. Thank you for your time.
