Default ZCS 5.0.6GA Network Professional Edition on wich Ubuntu release (6.06 or 8.04)

Hi,

I'm quite new to Zimbra but familiar with unix/linux.

Our employer considers to purchase ZCS Network Professional Edition and we'd like to run it as a test on an Ubuntu server.
It's gonna serve a relative small company with mostly apple machines (about 20 clients).

Now officially it's only supported on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS as far as I understood.
But we don't feel like doing an upgrade in the near future to 8.04 when it's officially supported.

Therefore we'd like to run it on 8.04 already.
I tried to install it on 8.04 and installed the mandatory packages except for libgmp3 which is not available for 8.04.

What would Zimbra advice us to do?

I apologize in case this question has been asked before but as far as I could find with the search-tool those statements were about the opensource edition and not Network Professional Edition.

Please advice....

Thanks in advance

The only supported operating systems are the ones on this page, running Zimbra on any other o/s will invalidate your support.

Right.

But can you tell me when 7.X or 8.X is gonna scheduled as officially supported or is Zimbra going to stay on 6.06 LTS for a quite longer period?

It will be available in 5.0.9 but there's no timeframe yet, it's not too far away. Details of feature requests can be found in Bugzilla and you can vote and add yourself to the bug so you'll get notifications. You can also follow the product roadmap at Zimbra Product Portal.
