[SOLVED] HyperVM / OpenVZ VPS install?

I am looking at getting a VPS to run zimbra on. The one I am thinking of looks like this.

1GB RAM, 16GB Burst
1 IP include (extra IP’s $3/mo per IP)
10Gb Disk Space
200Gb Transfer
OpenVZ/HyperVM

What I need to know is will zimbra install/run on either of the VPS platforms available? I can choose the OS I want installed so will go for either CentOS or Fedora Core depending on what you guys think would be better suited.

CentOS would be a good choice (Install the RHEL binaries) but you should get the RAM increased to 2GB, you'll have a much better experience.

thanks, Installing Centos 5 now, 2GB RAM is a bit out of the price range for this project, I ran it on 1GB on my office server without too much trouble though and that was with a really poor HDD (we only have about 20 users)

Well, you can reduce some of the running service and make changes to the RAM allocated to java etc but it's not really advised and you'll lose some functionality and possible performance. Is 1.5GB in you price bracket? Installing on Vservers can be problematic so if you have any problems post again.

I forgot to add that you should disable any unnecessary services in CentOS but I'm sure you know that already.

We can upgrade the RAM later if we end up needing more so if it does run poorly I will go down that route, being a little bit slow is OK to be honest, the computers they use here run on gas anyway so the users probably wont even notice

OK, glad you've got it working. Keep an eye on performance and any problems consider upgrading RAM first then options in the article on reducing the Zimbra requirements. Enjoy.
