Default canīt sent e-mail directly to hotmail.com

Hello!

(Another question from stupid me)

I canīt sent mail directly to hotmail.com from zimbra(webmail). But it works if I first sent an e-mail from hotmail to zimbra, then do a reply. It also works if I sent from gmail to zimbra, the forward from zimbra to hotmail.

Am I having Setting problem?

Have you checked your Log Files - Zimbra :: Wiki to see why it is not being accepted by hotmail ?

Also, http://www.zimbra.com/forums/announc...r-profile.html please so we know what version of ZCS you are running

Hello again!

The e-mail I sent from zimbra(webmail) to hotmail never bounced back to me.
The e-mail went away just fine, but never arriving to my hotmail account.

Like I said, it works if I first sent an e-mail from my hotmail account to zimbra, then in zimbra do a reply.
Then the e-mail shows up in my hotmail account(reply).

I have no problem sending and reveiving from other domains.

Iīve directly sent couple of mails from zimbra to my hotmail account. Just dont know where all the mails went to.

Iīve also check the admin ui(web) mail queues, there is nothing. No deferred.

which log file can I check this weird behaviour?

Check /var/log/zimbra.log for when Postfix sends the email to Hotmail. It should show which server received it and what the status was. Also, have you checked your Junk folder in Hotmail ? Do you have a valid MX record, RDNS record and possibly a SPF record ?

Hello,

I have the same problem.
I think that all my DNS settings are ok and valid.
When I use the web interface messages sent to hotmail disappear into vapor and the Message-ID is of the format: <3622076.01213112144631.JavaMail.root@egv-mail-u> (local host name)

I have noticed that if I use an imap client to send to hotmail it works and the Message-ID is of the format <1C9421B0B3BB49F693EB05F0713F5C97@mydomain.com>

Perhaps the lack of FQDN in the message-ID causes entrapment in hotmail's spam filter?

Which leads me to my next question:
How do I modify the Message-ID coming out of the web interface. I would like it to have FQDN (so that hotmail works). I have burned a couple of days reading and have not figured it out yet. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Tod
