Will there be any support for Ubuntu 8.04 server? I tried to use the 6.06 LTS install that you have on your site, but it keeps coming back saying it is an invalid OS. Is there a change in a script that I can make, or must the package be redone for 8.04?
Or, can I use the Debian 4 version?
I'm pretty much married to Ubuntu 8.04 server - I need a good email/collaboration solution for that platform.

Yes, I saw that, and tried it. Same error, no change.
I don't know why you'd get an error as it's supposed to let you install on an unsupported operating system. I believe others have used that recently, check the threads that uxbod has given you links.

I am using Starter Edition (zcs-NETWORK-5.0.6_GA_2313.UBUNTU6_64) on Ubuntu Gutsy (2.6.18 x86_64). I didn't experienced any problems with installation. As I remember I only made two changes:
- renamed file /etc/debian_version
- changed /etc/lsb-release to:
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=6
DISTRIB_CODENAME=gutsy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 6.06"

both of the methods above have a couple of issues, but the better one is altering /etc/lsb-release rather than the zimbra installer files. the reason is that there are a few files within the installer packages that need altering as well which is very difficult to do.
