Um, yep, that's about the size of it. However, this begs the question, "Why doesn't Zimbra start at boot?". Also, just to clarify (for me and others) "Why did I need to manually add those lines to the ld.so.conf file?" shouldn't that be part of the install process?

Ok, I will file it. Is there any additional info, logs, etc you might want to refer to?

No, just a complete description of what the problem was, and what you did to fix it.

Default Aaargh!

Somebody please put me out of my misery.

The mailbox is stopped and nothing I do seems to help. I've spent 3 days searching the forums and trying various things but all to no avail. I'm not really sure where best to look but the one thing that seems very fishy is this:
Code:
zimbra@mail:~> zmtlsctl start
ERROR: account.INVALID_ATTR_VALUE (zimbramailmode must be one of: http, https, both, mixed)
I've tried setting it to mixed, both and http, I did the zmprov ms and reset the MtaAuthHost. Still the same thing. Can't see anything glaringly obvious in the logs. Picked up that although mta says it's running, if I do a restart on tomcat I get this:
Code:
zimbra@mail:~> tomcat restart
Error: tomcat not running (pid 4148), stale pid file?
I assume it goes without saying but trying to access the admin console gives me a "Page cannot be displayed" error and trying to login to the admin mailbox gives an login error.

Is there anyone out there who can make sense of this?

Set it to mixed:

zmtlsctl mixed

Then start tomcat:

tomcat start

Did that, don't get the error on tomcat start now but still shows mailbox as stopped and still don't have access to either of the web interfaces?

+ STATUS=0
+ '[' zmmtaconfigctl = mysql.server ']'
+ /opt/zimbra/bin/zmmtaconfigctl status
+ R=0
+ '[' 0 -ne 0 ']'
+ '[' tomcat = mysql.server ']'
+ /opt/zimbra/bin/tomcat status
+ R=1
+ '[' 1 -ne 0 ']'
+ STATUS=1
+ '[' mysql.server = mysql.server ']'
