Question [SOLVED] Trial for Network Edition/Mobile Server

We just moved over to Zimbra and love the product! We are interested in trying the Network Edition and Mobile Server add-ons as well. However, before we do that, I want to make sure that we don't mess up our server *if* we don't decide to keep and pay for NE/Mobile. Is that a clean break??

Thanks!

Nothing changes in the NE server except the License you use for activating the feature for mobile etc. If you choose not to purchase them you'll still have a working NE server, if you choose to go back to the OSS version then you just run an 'upgrade' of the OSS version over the installed NE version.

Ok, so I register for the trial and apply that license to the existing OSS installation. What happens when I don't apply a paid for license after 60 days? Does it stop working until I re-install using the upgrade option?

Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't realise you were currently on the OSS version. You would need to install the NE version and apply the license to it. At the end of the trial your installed NE version will continue to run but without the NE features (it will actually run as an NE version for slightly longer than the sixty-days). There's one important proviso, it will not let you create any new accounts on the server. You will then need to do the install of OSS version over the NE trial to allow you to create new accounts on the server.

Ok, just one more clarification... I would upgrade our OSS with the NE install, right?

That's correct with the obvious proviso of take a backup of the /opt/zimbra directories before and after each stage. You can also check the wiki for some more detailed articles on how to move from OSS to NE versions.

Having done one of these updates earlier today, it is pretty much a no brainer. Be sure to take a back up of /opt/zimbra and make sure you have your license file before you start the process.
