Hi

Below are the error log and a copy of the console output when I enter:

zmcontrol start

Also please could you answer this question: SuSE installs postfix as a standard package. I was told to disable it before installing Zimbra, if Zimbra requires it then should it not be enabled? And if enabled why does it cause a conflict with a program it is supposed to work with?

zimbra log:

postfix appears to be dead, or not responding.

Can you kill -9 the existing postfix (seen in the ps output) and restart postfix?

Hi I asked this before but it was overlooked.

If Zimbra requires Postfix to work, why did I need to disable it to install Zimbra.?

If Zimbra requires it then why was it conflicting in the first instance (previous problem on port 25 from yesturday).?

If Zimbra needs Postfix would'nt it have been better to leave it going in the 1st place?

Also isn't there a more informative installation guide other than the quick start which obviously does not give enough information? I've never come across a mail system that took more that about a day to get fully up and running before!

Zimbra requires OUR postfix. So you can't have your own running first. Not sure how we can help on making your install faster. In fact you'll see most posts here rave about just how easy and quick it is to install.

My guess is a few mis-steps in the beginning like not shutting down Postfix really got you hung up and down the wrong path.

Kevin

What makes you think I want to make my install faster, I just want to get it going!

2nd regarding postfix, if I re-install suse which installs post fix by default then do I disable it before running zimbra install if not then won't I get the same port 25 error as before?

Regards

I'm sorry but I don't know how to do this, I don't know how to find out the job ID

I am really sorry if what you are saying makes sense to you but it does not to me.

Do I disable postfix before installing Zimbra or not.

If I do then I will be back where I am now.

If I don't then I will be back where I was yesturday i.e conflict on port 25.

Zimbra may well be shipped with it's own version but what do I do with the version installed by SUSE.

Please answer this it's driving me nuts
