Well, if postfix was already running, that would explain the port binding problem.
When you do zmcontrol status, what show up as running?

I am afraid as I previously mentioned when I do zmcontrol status or zmcontrol anything at all it says the command is not recognised.

Yogiman!
If you'd done any searching on the forums, you'd know to run those commands as the zimbra user.
marcmac
it says the following:
Host mail.freeos.co.uk
Starting antispam...Done.
Starting antivirus...Done.
Starting logger...Done.
Starting mailbox...Done.
Starting mta...Done.
Starting snmp...Done.
Starting spell...Done.
Marcmac, I would search throught the forums, however I am partially blind, it's 1:43 am and I've been at this for about 20 hours. Looking into a 17" light bulb is difficult at best.
However I do take your point and understand your annoyance.

zmcontrol status returns what?
zmcontrol status returns:
Host mail.freeos.co.uk
antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Stopped
mailbox Running
mta Running
snmp Stopped
spell Running
Now if I send mail it does not error but the mail goes nowhere. Sending mail to the server yeilds the same result.

Marcmac. Thanks for your assistance. I will try a fresh install in a few hours.

Hi Again....
Q. Should postfix be installed on a system which you are going to install zimbra.
"I think the answer is no" however if you don't install it then lots of dependuncy problems occour" cron for example.
SUSE installs this by default.
Thanks
Yogiman!
You can install zimbra on a server which has postfix installed but you should not have postfix running. Just stop the postfix server and then install Zimbra.
