Default Can Zimbra run on PowerPC using Linux?

Hello, I have an old G4 computer running Fedora Core 4 Linux laying around the office. I was woundering if it was possible to install Zimbra on it?

It meets with most of the requirements (except the processor of course).

You'd have to recompile for PPC. So this means going back to source.

In your opinon would it be better just to install Mac OS X Server?

Well if you want the easy route. We've already got built pkgs for PPC on Mac OSX.

Default I'd like to try installing on pSeries from source

KevinH, We have a robust architecture for a bunch of stuff deployed across IBM pSeries servers. I'd like to attempt to install the source for Zimbra on a pSeries RHEL AS4 system. I downloaded and untared the source code. Now I have the following directories. Do you have a README anywhere for installing from source?

    [root@plinux01 zcs-src]# ls -F
    Ajax/ ZimbraBuild/ ZimbraLicenses/ ZimbraServer/ Zimlet/
    ThirdParty/ ZimbraCharset/ ZimbraNative/ ZimbraWebClient/

    Default IBM p-series install

Any luck with the installation on an IBM p-series? I'm looking to install it on an IBM p570 running Fedora Core 4.

Nope. I downloaded the CVS, followed the instructions (the long list of instructions regarding all the open source packages that are needed-- And I specifically tried to get all the exact versions that they talked about). By the way, I wasn't impressed by the installation documentation.

But I'll have to try it again. I have a RHEL4 update 2 system running awaiting another attempt I'll keep you updated if I make any progress.

Has anyone had any luck installing Zimbra on a PowerPC? I have a PowerMac G5 with 2GB of ram I would like to use as a zimbra server.

    Myles,
I'm not aware of anyone running that config, however, if you'd like to try, wed be glad to help!
