thanks very much for the feedback. the sooner we can find and iron out any issues like this, the sooner we can submit really good patches and the sooner Ubuntu8 can get in the main codebase.

so far everything is working fine. I setup an account otretrieve external email and am dumping the spam from that account into the junk folder here to train. been working like a charm.
I have another system that is going into a private school in a few weeks. it is running 5.02.
I installed that on ubuntu 6.06 and did upgrades from there until it is now running 8.04. I am going to use your build to upgrade that system before it goes out. It has been running for a month now without a burp. time to shake things up a bit. I will let you know how that upgrade goes.
again, thanks for all your time helping on the last install.

ran an update this morning from a 5.02 setup that was running on ubuntu 8.04
all went very well in the upgrade. no errors during install. when running zmcontrol status it shows all services running. The only problem I have is when I pull up the admin console it shows the server with a red X in server status. When I refresh I get an error
logger service must be installed. I followed previous instructions although this did not prove to be true
"if you do:
ldd /opt/zimbra/zimbramon/lib/i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.so
you'll probably find a not found against libmysql."
I will look thru the log files to see if I can find something.

looked thru logs. I see no errors. I rebooted and then checked again after startup and all services show running but the same situation exists. any thoughts?

ran into a problem yesterday afternoon. mta shutdown. postfix not running says saslauthd is running pid I hadnt installed anything but I did update some pkgs. I noticed that 5.06 was out so I downloaded that last night and reinstalled to see if the problem would correct itself
it did not. this is what I get when I do zmcontrol status:
antispam Running
antivirus Running
imapproxy Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
mta Stopped
postfix is not running
saslauthd is running with pid 20974
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Running
when doing the reinstall I get a port conflict port 25
I am sure that is involved but not sure how to diagnose the problem. Could you provide some guidance?
thanks
Bill
