8.04 community build was working ok with a few glitches.

One was that Logger was running according to zmcontrol status but admin interface said it was not installed.

There were other minor issues but I don't recall details and as we are under some time constraints to get the production environment tested, the install of 6.06 wiped out 8.04 so further test is not possible. Sorry.

I have noticed a few issues with 6.06.2 on the new hardware that may take time to sort out so I am opening a case on 23154 to see if it can be moved up the queue or not.

over 100 downloads for the community version and that's the first bit of feedback so far. how are builds and patches supposed to improve and get submitted/accepted by zimbra if nobody provides testing feedback? this is supposed to accelerate 8.04 support that everyone is shouting for by doing some of the the core groundwork and testing in advance. come on, people, this is your chance to speed things up!

no errors in install but when I zmcontrol status I get this:
antispam Running
antivirus Running
imapproxy Running
ldap Running
logger Stopped
logmysql.server is not running
mailbox Stopped
mysql.server is not running
zmmailboxdctl is not running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Stopped
looks like I still have some work to do.

hey bbarrons, would really appreciate if you could send me your zmsetup.log. it would help me find what has gone wrong with your install.

This server was a fresh install of 8.04 but was then setup as a media server using twonkyserver. That is the only thing running on it so far. It is possible that is interfering with the startup.

hey bbarrons, thanks for the log. it shows everything normal until mysql refuses to startup so it is never configured, and everything that depends on it is the borked. how much memory do you have on this machine? memory is usually the reason mysql doesn't start up. if you're running media stuff, kill it and everything else while you install zimbra.

try again with everything else turned off. make sure you have at least 1gb ram, preferably 2. i built and tested with 1.5gb vm.

I have a rackable server- 2 xeon 3.0 processors with 2 gig ram. I saw that in the log last night also. I am in the process of turning off everything cleaning up the install and trying again. I also think I had a minor problem in the dns setup.
I will post further after I do a reinstall.
thanks for the tips
Bill
