Question GAL as default for Address Book

Howdy,

New to Zimbra... Using Zim 5.0.4 on SuSE LES 10... By default, the Address Book for a client is their local address book. Is there a way to make the GAL the default address book that's displayed? At this point there are no addresses showing and we have to do an address search on the "Company Contacts" address book in order to return any results...

Welcome to the forum.

You can activate this (and using GAL for autocomplete) in the "Preferences" ; it's in the "address book" tab.

Klug,

Thanks for the warm welcome and the speedy reply. Are you stating that this option can be set from within the client, or can it be set as the default for all clients?

Logging in as a client, going to Preferences and then Address Book, there are only a few options to choose from:

Display contacts per page (it's set to 50)
Default view (list)
Add new contacts to "Emailed Contacts" is checked
Auto-complete includes addresses in the GAL is checked
And then there are a couple of import/export options.

Within the default class of service options on the server, I see:
Add new contacts to "Emailed Contacts" is checked
Auto-complete includes addresses in the GAL is checked
Contacts per page (25)

When addressing a message using the "To:" button, I do see addresses in the GAL. However, when I click on the address book first to search for an address, the address book is empty.
