Default Trying to build a standalone VM

on the latest 5.x release. All I want to do is showcase the latest release for my company. What do I need to configure after install at a minimum to allow users to check out this release?

The above task is crucial to my company buying this product, any help would be appreciated.

Create some users ?

Do you want them to see their existing email at all ? If so, what is your current email solution as you could duplicate their current messages across.

Do you want them to be able to send and receive external email aswell ?

Any further details you can provide would help us to advice you.

I'd like for them to just be able to send internal mail. I've gotten the VM up and running using SplitDNS but now I can't login to the Admin GUI. Frustrating.

Ok, what happens when you try and login ? Have you checked your Log Files - Zimbra :: Wiki ?

Also what does the following show ?
Code:
su - zimbra
zmcontrol status

Output of zmcontrol status is that ldap is stopped and milabox, snmp, and stats are all running.

I stopped ldap because I was going to try and point it towards my internal ldap once I got into the admin GUI.

I tried 4 linux based browser and everyone of them brings up the login to zimbraAdmin but hangs when I log in. Checking logs now.

Still hangs with ldap started. Should I just reinstall without it?

You can't do that, Zimbra requires it's own LDAP to be installed & running.

Do your logfiles report anything ? What O/S are you running on ? If RHEL5/CentOS5 have you disable SELinux ?

I tried reinstalling without mta or ldap and now I get port conflicts detected errors and a "correct ldap configuration" error on the initial setup screen. These problems are killing the adoption of Zimbra by my company. Very frustrating.
