MX record question

I want to install zimbra on ubuntu as my company's intranet email app. We've got 20 users and are about to purchase a hosting package, what i want zimbra to do is collect the mail from our hosting provider (mail.ourdomain.com) and deliver it to local email accounts that mirror the online accounts. this machine
I see it does work without a valid MX record,

1. Will i have to install Bind to setup up an internal DNS?
2. Can i use a MX record provided by my host?

Zimbra looks great and this is my only hang up. any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you need to have DNS that resolves to the internal, actual IP of your Zimbra box or the software will refuse to install. Whether you use bind on that actual machine or another DNS in the local subnet doesn't matter, but it WILL have to have an MX record that resolves to the local machine

No, not for the internal resolution purposes. That host-provided MX record is sufficient ONLY if that's the real IP of your Zimbra box (not recommended for security reasons).

ok so all i have to do is get bind or any other dns wrking properly internally, create the MX record and ill be able to run it?
heres wat we plan to set up

external:
Example Web Page

Internal
gateway/firewall: endian firewall so im hoping to have this handle all the services (DHCP DNS etc)

Domain (Samba): dom.example.local (172.*.*.200)
Mail (zimbra): mail.example.local (172.*.*.210)

Im completely new to DNS setup and even more to zimbra and need any help available but ive set my sights on zimbra and im determined to get it working.

At my previous job we had an exchange server running along with mdaemon that simply collected the mail from our server and delivered it to the local exchange boxes. we then had outlook connect and collected it. I need to be able to send mail internally and externally through the one server i dont want users connecting directly to the host.

You might consider this step-by-step, which assumes less prior knowledge than some of the others out there.

thank you all for your input all help is welcomed cant present this till im sure i can get it working. ill try this in a vm on monday got some reading 2 do on the weekend.
