Cool Upgrading Zimbra from 4.5.7 to 5.04 on DRBD install

Hi,

I'm starting my research and upgrade plan to upgrade our Zimbra from Release 4.5.7_GA_1319.RHEL5_64_20070914214037 CentOS5_64 FOSS edition to the latest stable release of 5.04.

I have it installed on two servers (centOS) with a DRBD partition on /opt where zimbra is located.

Except for the /opt folder, does Zimbra install files else where? DRBD will take care of the update part on /opt but I'm not sure if other files, configs are being written else where and how that will effect my upgrade.

Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

Do you have any success story? I'am before upgrade of Zimbra NE 5.0.18 to Zimbra NE 6.0.1 (on Ubuntu + drbd + heartbeat). Any hints are welcome.

I ran a test upgrade from 5.0.16 to 6.0.1 on a DRBD pair and it seemed to work fine. I did the following:

- failed over from 001b (Primary) to 001a (Secondary)
- ran full upgrade on 001a
- tested, everything seemed OK
- failed back over to 001b
- ran software only upgrade on 001b (install -s)
- went fine, aside from some small glitches (logswatch service wouldn't start, had to start other services manually)
- ran some tests, aside from the above, everything looked normal
- failed back over to 001a
- all services came up, everything looks perfectly normal

So I'm pretty sure this wil go OK in production. Fingers crossed.
