Default Problem With Status

I'm a student in an EAST Lab setting up Zimbra, I have set it up before and it finally went down after a power outage and we've since then formatted, I thought it nice to install fedora 8 again and work on it again the same way, I preped it fixing my old problem I had with postfix, and now I can't really figure much out.

45 minutes is not enough

I'm gathering that there's something running I can't see, or these weren't installed correctly. However I doubt the installation was incorrect.

I cannot connect to Zimbra by local or anywhere else so I'm stumped.

Host mail.realhostblanked.com
antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Stopped
logmysql.server is not running
mailbox Stopped
mysql.server is not running
zmmailboxdctl is not running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Stopped

Starting these services separately returns a message saying they've been started, however status will not reflect it, I cannot connect to zimbra either... more information if needed.

zmcontrol stop, then tail -f /var/log/zimbra.log & /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log & zmmailboxd.out as you zmcontrol start so we can get some errors to work from.

mail.mpseast is the host that we were using.

Still same DNS config like the thead when this was first setup?
(though I see a new garlandcountyeast.com domain in addition to mpseast.com)

What's the contents/output of:
etc/sysconfig/network
Reslove.conf
ect/hosts
& running:
dig any mpseast.com

Based on the prior http://www.zimbra.com/forums/install...p-install.html dont' forget to disable selinux.

Yes, I made sure to Disable SELinux when installing, I also doublechecked so It is disabled, However I'm still not sure on that.

mpseast.com Dig

It would be nice if I could change everything to garlandcountyeast.com but I'll need to worry about that later.

That being said, I changed the hostname in the Network Configuration GUI to mail.garlandcountyeast.com, that didn't change it with zimbra so I can be fairly certain there's a file I'd have to edit to change that.

I can't find out how to run the other commands there, so I could use some help explaining them, The one I did understand being to "dig mpseast.com".

We were initially going with mpseast.com and then I get "Switch to garlandcountyeast.com" and so I tried to run with it from there.

It doesn't matter which one we get it up on as long as we get it up on one.

Edit:
After attempting to figure out what these commands mean.

[root@mail ~]# /etc/sysconfig/network
bash: /etc/sysconfig/network: Permission denied

then I thought...

[zimbra@mail root]$ cd /etc/sysconfig/network
bash: cd: /etc/sysconfig/network: Not a directory
[zimbra@mail root]$ cd /etc/sysconfig
[zimbra@mail sysconfig]$ network
bash: network: command not found
[zimbra@mail sysconfig]$ ./network
bash: ./network: Permission denied

Maybe I should turn off my network device or something...

Edit 2:
Ran Zmcontrol status

received

[zimbra@mail root]$ zmcontrol status

Then these

[zimbra@mail root]$ mysql.server start
mysqld_safe already running with pid 2533
[zimbra@mail root]$ kill -9 2533
[zimbra@mail root]$ mysql.server start
mysqld_safe already running with pid 13848

Still confused...

Let's stick with one naming convention (mpseast)

170.211.174.36 mail.mpseast.com (public)
192.168.1.102 mail.mpseast.com (private)
that looks good

nano /etc/sysconfig/network
change mail.garlandcountyeast.com > mail.mpseast.com

nano /etc/hosts
change it so it looks like:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.1.102 mail.mpseast.com mail

(then restart your network services or just restart everything)

zmcontrol stop
ps aux | grep zimbra
kill -9 # (pid # of any remaining processes)
go move your main logfiles to .hold or something:
mv /var/log/zimbra.log /var/log/zimbra.log.hold
mv /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log.hold
mv /opt/zimbra/log/zmmailboxd.out /opt/zimbra/log/zmmailboxd.out.hold
zmcontrol start
after you run zmcontrol status to see what's not running, attach those 3 logfiles to this thread
