Greetings,

Yes, that's right. Split dns.

Your external dns server will be set with something like:

hostname in a hostname.domain.com.

with the reverse dns being

123.45.67.890 in ptr hostname.domain.com.


The internal dns server will be set to something like:

differenthostname in a differenthostname.domain.com

hostname in cname differenthostname

and with reverse being

192.168.1.20 in ptr differenthostname.domain.com



If you use the cname record above, this means when accessing
your zimbra e-mail, the fully qualified host name is the exact
same both from outside your network and inside your network.
