Default [SOLVED] New FC8 Install MX help

I am doing a new install of Zimbra on an FC8 system. During the install I am getting errors about MX resolve errors.

DNS ERROR resolving MX for zimbra.domain.com

Currently I am running a postfix->dovecot email system and can not take that down IE change my MX domain.com records to the new zimbra.domain.com server until that is working.

What can I do to satisfy the install process about the MX record?

Right now I am stuck with this error when running zmsetup.pl.

Initializing ldap...failed. (28416)
ERROR
Configuration failed
Please address the error and re-run

What is this error and is it directly related to not having a proper MX record defined according to zimbra?

You need to change the install domain from zimbra.domain.com to domain.com .

This is something needed in most install. Zimbra uses the FQDN instead of the domain name. That's why it needs to be changed to simply the domain name. After changing that, zimbra will go ahead and install even if you don't have the proper DNS records setup.

I hope before you put zimbra into production that you setup the proper MX record pointing to the FQDN of your server (which should also be the name returned from the HELO command). You will also need an A record and a PTR record eo prevent issues with communication between your server and others.

The change I refer to takes place at the point you are receiving your error message. Zimbra should be giving you the opportunity to make the change then.

I did try this since that is the way we have the MX records setup and still got errors.

This is what I got.

# host -t mx domain.com
domain.com mail is handled by 30 mx2.mailhop.org.
domain.com mail is handled by 10 mail0.domain.com.
domain.com mail is handled by 20 mail1.domain.com.

# ./zmsetup.pl

From what I have read this should have installed specifying "domain.com", even thought domain.com MX resolves to a different address other than where I am installing zimbra?

Update:

I put in a temp MX entry which cleared up the errors regarding the MX record check.

domain.com mail is handled by 4 zimbra.domain.com.

Still get the error about the initialization of LDAP failing.

Initializing ldap...failed. (28416)

I am reinstalling:
# ./install.sh -u
# ./install.sh --platform-override
