Default Installation stuck on FC4 at "starting servers..."

Did not see any other posting on such an event. I installed zcs version 3.0.0_M4_62_FC4 on an FC4 system and it got stuck after displaying the message "starting servers...". The first time around I had not stopped sendmail - so I figured I may as well try that next. I uninstalled Zimbra and stopped sendmail, rebooted the system and tried installing again. The result was no different. Any idea on why this could happen and how I can go around it?

The only additional piece of info if it will help is that I can see mulitple processes running with the names - zmcontrol, zmstatuslog, zmmailboxctl - not sure why so many. Also I cannot get the admin panel up using port 7071.

When you did the uninstall did you also check for any running Zimbra processes? If you didn't have a look and kill anything that's active and try the install again.

Default Virtual host

Is this a virtual server? We've seen this happen on some virtual servers, where the config rewrites hang.

After the uninstall I rebooted the system before the next install attempt. I had checked before the re-install and there were no processes zm* - however, I don't remember if there were any of ther other processes started by zimbra installation.

No - this is not a virtual server. It is a standalone server - with FC4 as the single OS installed on it.

How many of the zimbra processes are supposed to be started on installation? Is there a way to control this apriori? I have only 512 MB RAM - am going to bump it up to 2GB and try again. Will post the results for that once I have done it.

Thanks

Default starting servers on install

there's a menu option to toggle server start after install.

I'm trying to install zimbra on a Ubuntu Server 8.04 64-bits virtualized with XEN, I'm stuck on that "Starting services....", is there something I can do to get this working?
