Default IMAP - How do I keep copy of emails on the server

Hi,
I am using IMAP to connect to Zimbra NE 4.5.9 from Outlook and Mac Mail to send and receive emails.

My question is:
How do configure certain accounts to keep the email on the server instead of downloading it to the client? Can I do it from the server itself? I know outlook has an option for POP to keep a copy of the email on the server but I can't find it on the Macs.

Thanks,
Eas

The option to leave mail on the server is an option in your mail client, check the settings there.

If you are using IMAP instead of POP the mail is already staying on the server. . .

Cheers,

Ok, I am using Outlook and IMAP - but when I delete a message, it shows a cross line across the message and it doesn't disappear. Is that an outlook issue?

See this post on ways to deal with that outlook 'feature': Zimbra OSS Outlook and IMAP

Yes, that's LookOut for you. . .There are settings that allow you to "hide deleted items" and another that allows you to "purge folder on exit" (I think I'm remembering them correctly) but that is definitely a "feature" of both Outlook and Outlook Express. Mike explained this more fully in this post.

Other IMAP clients handle this more cleanly.
